  • Look for Actionopolis founder Shannon Eric Denton at the upcoming Long Beach Comic-Con, October 2 - 4! A convention celebrating comic books located at the Long Beach Convention Center, ( 33° 49' N 118° 9' W) Long Beach, California, United States of America, Earth (Earth-63, we think.). But it’s a little more. LBCC is an experience unlike other comic conventions. Developed by some of the industry’s most ardent supporters, it’s a gathering of professionals, fans, artists, celebrities (and possibly my mother) to enjoy all aspects of comic books and pop culture. Along with all the typical convention fare (screenings, panels, autograph sessions, artists and writers, costumes) we plan a few surprises. http://www.longbeachcomiccon.com/

PR: Actionopolis heads to Phoenix for Con and College Visits

January 25, 2007 – PHOENIX, AZ – Everybody who’s anybody is lined up to attend the Phoenix Comicon this weekend, and that includes ACTIONOPOLIS

“I’m a big fan of the Phoenix show, which grows leaps and bounds every time they stage one of these hoedowns,” said Denton.

Denton is the co-publisher and creative director of the popular new line of juvenile fiction novels called Actionopolis. In addition to that he’s the writer of numerous comics currently being published by Desperado/Image, Arcana and TOKYOPOP.

“I’m in good company this year with the likes of big name guests like Mike Mignola, George Perez, Jeff Mariotte, Howard Chaykin, Andy Kuhn, Brian Pulido, Mike Stackpole, James Owen and Len Wein among others.”

The convention fun happens at the Mesa Convention Center on Saturday the 27th and Sunday 28th but Shannon, writer/movie producer Frank Beddor, and comics guru Jay Fotos will be speaking Friday at Collins College in a pre-Con event that carries over into sneak peek night on Friday.

Denton will be on the lookout for Actionopolis author JJ Hart, who is rumored to be crashing the show in spite of his current status as a missing person (as was widely reported in early December and partially corroborated by a video posted on YouTube -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T58udQpseI ).

“JJ’s a survivor and I fully expect him to surprise us with an appearance at the Phoenix show,” Denton said. “Of course he’ll promptly be ejected from the event. That seems to be the pattern anyhow.”
